BTS announces military enlistment in two days after the Busan concert.Best decision and timing
The group BTS (BTS) will enlist in order, starting with its eldest brother Jin.
Big Hit Music, BTS's agency, said on the 17th, "Jin will apply for the cancellation of the postponement of his enlistment later this month and follow the enlistment process of the Military Manpower Administration," adding, "Other members will also perform their military service sequentially according to their plans."
Jin was born in 1992, 30 years old, and his enlistment was postponed until the end of this year after being recommended by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to postpone his enlistment under the revised military service law in 2020. However, Jin withdrew his "postponement of enlistment until the age of 30" and announced his plan to enlist in active service as soon as the notice of enlistment is issued.
There is a big difference between simple enlistment and enlistment after the withdrawal of the postponement of enlistment itself. This is because it is an action that goes further from "the time is coming" and shows one's own choices and decisions. This adds meaning to Kim BTS's enlistment in the military.
Until now, the issue of military enlistment has not been avoided or intended to be avoided by BTS members, but it could be burdensome as it has been mentioned continuously. BTS has long maintained its position that it is a "natural obligation" regarding military service, especially during a global press conference for its fourth regular album held in February last year, Jin himself mentioned military enlistment. Jin said at the time, "I think many people will be curious about the enlistment. As you know, nothing has been decided yet. I'm careful to say this, but military service is a natural obligation. If there is a call from the country, we will respond at any time. "Even if it is decided, we are trying to show a good performance," he said in personally.
BTS hosted its solo concert "Yet To Come In Busan" held at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium on the 15th.
Regarding the surprise announcement, which was made two days after the concert and two months before the end of this year, BTS said, "I thought a lot about the time to tell you the decision, and I decided that now is the best time to tell you when the Busan concert to support the 2030 World Expo was completed." In many ways, it seems the best timing. This is because, in addition to this practical reason, the BTS who finished the performance nicely and kept his promise and enlisted was imprinted.
What will happen to BTS's future activities? The BTS said, "We and the members hope to resume the entire BTS activities by 2025, but we ask for your understanding that it is difficult to specify the exact timing at this point." Since they are members with a maximum age difference of five years, the timing of their enlistment is likely to be different. However, some predicted that the actual gap would be around one year due to the pre-production effect of the BTS before joining the military.
Accordingly, the BTS will focus on individual activities for the time being in accordance with each member's military service implementation plan. The members are expected to show their personal growth by showing their individual musical abilities that they have honed over the past nine years at the same time as picking their breath to go to "BTS Chapter 2." Starting with the first runner J-Hope, Jin is set to make his second official solo debut through a single.
